Path to citizenship
Indonesian citizenship comes after 5 consecutive or 10 non-consecutive years of residence, from age 18, with Indonesian and giving up your previous citizenship; it is discretionary, and only hundreds of foreigners received it in 5 years. The fee since July 2026 is Rp75 million. Spouses of citizens apply by declaration after the same 5 years — a lighter procedure with a Rp25 million fee. «Global Citizenship» (GCI, since January 2026), the and the remote-worker visa do not grant citizenship: they are residence permits.
